NIGERIA (OUR SUPPOSED GIANT OF AFRICA)
Ever wondered why the average Nigerian's dream is to travel out of their country of origin?
Ever wondered why the rich elites are flown out of their country of origin for treatment when they're faced with any health challenge?
Ever wondered why the rich parents prefer their kids to study outside the country?
Ever wondered where the wife and kids of the governor of your state is? Abroad obviously.
Ever wondered why the rich prefer to spend their holidays or vacations abroad?
So many questions with answers that you obviously know. So when next you're asked what the average Nigerian dream is, simply say TO TRAVEL ABROAD.
Quick question, why do the citizens of the supposed giant of Africa keep traveling out for literally everything, including ice-cream(gelato)? Well they're living the Nigerian dream when they can afford it. Most Nigerian's are hustling just to be able to afford a trip out of the country and in most cases they never return. Back to the question of why they're always traveling out, well, a Nigerian billionaire would rather travel abroad to lick ice-cream rather than get someone who can make that ice-cream, teach them the recipe and have them make it in your country for you. The same situation is applicable to our leaders, rather than equip their hospitals with facilities that'll aid a perfect health check-up, surgeries etc. they'll prefer to travel abroad for literally every body part check-up.
Personally I wouldn't want to give birth in any hospital in Nigeria, you know why? Because they book you for CS over a slight complication and in most cases women who die while delivering, die as a result of the carelessness of the Nigerian hospitals and lack of equipment. Dad told me once that when my mom was to deliver my elder brother through CS, the hospital generator went out and the backup generator was out of fuel, he had to take out all the fuel he had in his car, mehn I almost shed tears hearing that. What if, just what if, he had no fuel in his car? or what if he didn't have a car in the first place?
There's a general perception amongst the Nigerian youths today, that the moment, you are born in Nigeria, you automatically are down by a score of 1-0. Then if your parents are poor, you're down by 2-0. Now this usually ends with laughter cause most persons find that funny, but thinking about it, you get to realize there's absolutely nothing funny about that statement. It only describes how unfortunate it is being born into a country like the giant of Africa, where the average Nigerians dream is to make enough money to travel out of his country of origin. Because at some point if you aren't killed during childbirth, you'll get killed by hunger, but if you're fortunate enough to be born into a rich family, then watch out for armed robbers and kidnappers who are unfortunate to be born into poor homes or are maybe unemployed and are trying to make it the wrong way by looting the rich. But if you are lucky enough to escape the hands of the armed robbers and kidnappers, then the police are out there waiting to kill you. Shocked?
Don't be, in my country, once you dress good, are using an iPhone and own a car, the police automatically see you as a fraudster popularly known as yahoo boy. Well maybe now you understand why the Nigerian dream is to travel out of Nigeria. If our leaders feel more comfortable in another country, then who are we the masses.

No need to fly hustle develop your self. Nigeria is so blessed that is why people order pizza through British airways just for curing.
ReplyDeleteTheir is paradigm shift going in in the country and I believe things will be better. You cannot compare the health care system at the time they gave birth to your elder brother to 2020 thing have change but we still yearning for more. Beautiful piece by the way.
